What are the key factors in determining the performance of insulating materials

In various circuit facilities, various types of insulating materials are often used. However, for different fields of use, the performance of the selected insulating material is different. So, what are the key factors for the performance of a constant insulation material?

I. Breakdown voltage and electrical strength: The insulation material is damaged under a strong electric field, and the insulation performance of the insulation ladder leads to a conductive state, which is called breakdown. The voltage at breakdown is called the breakdown voltage. The electrical strength is the quotient of the voltage between the voltage when the breakdown occurs under the specified conditions and the two electrodes that bear the applied voltage, that is, the breakdown voltage that is carried by the unit thickness. For insulating materials, the higher the breakdown voltage and electrical strength, the better.

2. Ignition resistance: As the application field of insulation materials is expanding, the requirements for its fire resistance point are becoming higher and higher. Many manufacturing companies have begun to use various methods to continuously improve the ignition resistance of insulating materials. The higher the ignition resistance, the better the safety.

Third, arc resistance: Under the specified conditions of implementation, the insulation material can withstand the ability to move the arc transmission along its surface. During the implementation, the high voltage and small current are exchanged, and the arc resistance of the insulating material is judged by the time required for the conductive material to form a conductive layer on the surface of the insulating material by the arc infection between the two electrodes. Generally, the larger the time value, the better the arc resistance.
